Week 7’s challenge was the 2nd bedroom challenge. Once again, we were faced with transforming a very small space into a functional and well designed room. The biggest thing about this challenge was that we were to use all refurbished items. I had been dying to do a room with an exposed brick wall seen as this house was built completely out of brick. That was my main focal point in this room.
Since our goal for this home was to make it a family friendly place, we decided to do a child’s room. After shopping at numerous Cincinnati second hand stores, I managed to score some great girly items which helped me to determine the direction of this space, a girls room. The headboards were custom made along with the reused office drawers placed under the 2 twin size beds for storage. We repurposed old bar wood to make shelving which were held up by brackets from an old school house. The mirror mounted between the 2 beds was an old picture frame, I had a local hardware store cut a custom mirror to fit in the frame, perfect for a girls room!
The end result was a whimsical and relaxing space for a girl of any age!
